Linda: Maybe. But, it's pretty chaotic down there. I wouldn't recommend it.
Frank: (Turns to Cole) Thanks to that hothead Paul, you're off the hook -- for now, anyway! But, in the inimitable words of Arnold, 'I'll be back'!
Frank leaves the room.
Linda: How's it going with Data Source?
Cole: (Sighs) Still haven't made a final decision.
Linda: I know you're aware of this, Cole, but without that account we're sunk. History! Do you mind if I ask which way you're leaning?
Cole: I'm not at liberty to say.
Linda: That's a cop out!
Cole: (Defensive) Maybe. But before I decide something as important as this, I'm going to do what some would consider politically incorrect.
Linda: (Alarmed) What?
Cole: I'm going to pray.
Linda: (Incredulous) Pray? You mean hear at your desk? Who-boy. Must be worse than I thought.
Amy enters.
Amy: Linda! Frank just called and wants to see you in Paul's office. Now!
Linda: I'm on my way. (With resolve) I'm going to be optimistic about this Data Source deal.... look at the glass as half-full.... think positively!
Linda exits singing, The sun will come out tomorrow, bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow....
Cole gets up and closes the door, then picks up the phone.
Cole: Amy.... Unless it's an emergency, I don't want any interruptions for at least ten minutes.
Cole sits there for a moment, thinking to himself. Finally he sighs deeply and begins to pray aloud, with emotion, working through the issues as he prays.
Cole's prayer can be recorded and played over a loud speaker with Cole on stage, going through the emotions. It should be played with as much emotion as possible.
Lord.... when I am following you, I feel a bit lost most of the time. But that makes sense, I guess. I am not leading you. You are leading me! If I want complete certainty, I cannot expect to be led by your Spirit. I cannot know what will happen next, nor demand control. And I know that following you is the only way I can make a great and beautiful difference in the world. I cannot control what happens outside, but by your grace I can increasingly know myself. Lord, help me to master who I am and how I give meaning to actions and events around me. May my wealth, power, and wisdom enable others to achieve
