Lindsay: We asked about that right off the bat.  You don't actually see them doing anything, it's all off camera.

Dad: The movie has foul language, violence, and implied sex.  Doesn't sound like the kind of movie your mom and I want our girls to see.  You need to find a movie that's PG.

Anna:  (Whines) Daaaaaad.  Everyone's seeing it.  Everyone!

Lindsay: Please let us see it, Dad.  That way when our friends discuss it, we won't be left out of the conversation. 

Dad: You didn't mention the name of the movie -- or who the actors are.

Anna: "Deadly Encounter" with Johnny Depp and Julia Roberts.

Lindsay: It's a great story, Dad.  Mrs. Murphy thinks it will be up for an Academy Award.  She says Johnny Depp will probably be nominated for best actor.  It's that good! 
 
Anna: We heard that the special effects are fantastic! 

Lindsay: Erica Johnson's a Christian.  She saw it and said it wasn't that bad.

Anna:  And so did David Kirk -- and his dad's one of the deacons in our church. 

Dad: You know the rule, girls.  You're not allowed to see PG-13 or R rated movies.

Anna: Before you say no, just think about it, okay?

Lindsay: It's just this one movie, Dad.  Anna and I only want to see it because it's one of the best movies ever! Even better than The Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars, or anything!

Dad: That good, huh?  Well you've obviously spent time researching the movie.  I'll tell you what.  I'll talk it over with your mom and let you know what we decide.

Lindsay: When will you let us know? 

Dad: Tonight after dinner, okay?

Girls: (Thrilled) Thanks, Dad! 

The girls leave the room feeling confident that he will give in.

The actor who is playing Dad stands and addresses the audience: Dinner has been consumed and Mom has made a special dessert for fourteen year old Anna and fifteen year old Lindsay.

Lights dim…Dad, Anna and Lindsay quietly sit at the dining room table. 

Light come up…Everyone starts talking at once.  Mom comes in with a plate of brownies. 

Mom: I baked brownies for dessert.

Anna: Yummy!
